- 1st phase goes live across public primary schools, LGEAs, and SUBEB HQ
The Delta State Universal Basic Education Board in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission, Tuesday, flagged off Phase 1 of the Attend360 Teachers Attendance System, reintroducing biometric clock-in for staff in public primary schools, Local Government Education Authorities, and SUBEB headquarters.
The initiative captioned “Smart Attendance with Delta Learn Attend360” initiative was launched at Uzoigwe Primary School, Asaba, as part of efforts to improve accountability, discipline, and technology-driven governance in basic education.
The Executive Chairman, SUBEB Delta State, Hon. Samuel Mariere, said persistent teacher absenteeism had eroded parental confidence in public schools, disclosing that the present Board has stepped up teacher training and school digitalization to reverse the trend.
Hon Mariere explained that the new system tracks daily attendance through a monitoring dashboard accessible to relevant authorities, including the Governor’s Office, stressing that Absenteeism will attract sanctions.
“Under Phase 1, teaching and non-teaching staff will clock in with fingerprints at resumption, after breaks, and at closing. Records will be stored electronically for monitoring and verification. The project is federally funded and aligned with measures introduced by the Delta State Government.
“Anyone passionate about their job will make themselves available, relevant, and indispensable. Government will always recognize dedication and commitment”, Mariere stated.
The Subeb Boss said rollout supports Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda by boosting accountability, discipline, and service delivery in public basic education.
He commended the support of the state government towards changing the narratives to a better and greater basic school system in the state.
Managing Consultant of Schoolville Ltd., Mr. Charles Omordia, explained that Attend360 allows attendance officers to follow up with absent staff daily, verify approved leave, and ensure prompt return to duty.
According to him, the platform also supports performance tracking and direct communication to strengthen discipline and efficiency.
Head Teacher of Uzoigwe Primary School, Mrs. Anamati Matilda, thanked the state government and SUBEB for the initiative and ongoing teacher training.
She assured that teachers were ready to comply and “prove their worth” in delivering on education reforms.
Present at the launch were members of Subeb board, the Functioning Secretary of the board, Mrs. Eru Ezefili, Oshimili South LGEA Education Secretary Mrs. Allanah, and some Directors in Delta Subeb.
