The Minister of Works, recently stated that while the South-East region will produce Nigeria’s president someday, it’s not going to happen in 2027. Instead, he’s urging the region to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid, citing the president’s fairness and commitment to infrastructure development.
In a statement, Umahi emphasized that the South-East should prioritize building stronger political alliances with other parts of Nigeria. He also commended Tinubu’s administration for reviving abandoned projects and initiating new ones across the region, including major road constructions.
When asked about his own presidential aspirations, Umahi jokingly mentioned that maybe, just maybe, he’ll be the one to become president from the South-East “in God’s time”. He stressed the importance of patience, maturity and collaboration in achieving the region’s political goals
