The Honourable Commissioner for Higher Education in Delta State, Prof.Nyerhovwo Tonukarii, has expressed profound gratitude to the Governor of Delta State,Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori for his transformative impact on the higher education sector in the state.
According to Prof Tonukari, the Governor’s commitment to staff welfare and adequate funding of state-owned institutions has been the driving force behind the sector’s stability and progress. This, he noted, has earned Delta State a unique distinction as the only state in the country where public tertiary institutions have not embarked on strike actions in recent times.
Prof Tonukari highlighted that Governor Oborevwori’s administration has demonstrated a strong commitment to ensuring that staff welfare is prioritized, salaries are paid promptly, and infrastructure is upgraded. These, he said, have created an enabling environment for teaching and learning, allowing students to pursue their academic goals without unnecessary interruptions.
The Commissioner also praised the Governor’s visionary leadership, stating that his policies have not only enhanced the quality of education but also positioned Delta State as a model for others to emulate.
The Commissioner urged staff and students of tertiary institutions in the state to continue working hard and harnessing the opportunities provided by the Governor’s initiatives. He assured that the Governor’s support for higher education would continue unabated, with more innovations and interventions aimed at elevating the higher education sector to even greater heights.
Prof Tonukari’s appreciation was conveyed during a special ceremony to mark another milestone in the state’s educational journey, further underscoring the symbiotic relationship between the government and the academic community in Delta State.
