The Managing Director of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Chief Festus Ochonogor, has expressed profound gratitude to His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State, for the approval of the extension of the board tenure.
In a statement released in warri, Ochonogor described the governor’s decision as a clear demonstration of trust, confidence, and commitment to continuity in the administration of development programmes for oil-producing communities in Delta State.
“This extension is not just a personal honour, but a renewed mandate to serve the people of the oil-producing areas with greater dedication and accountability,” Ochonogor stated.
“It is a vote of confidence in the modest progress we have made so far, and a call to do even more.”
The DESOPADEC MD commended Governor Oborevwori for his consistency in prioritizing the development of oil-bearing communities and for ensuring that the Commission remains focused on its core mandate of infrastructure provision, human capital development, and economic empowerment.
He further pledged that under his leadership, DESOPADEC would intensify efforts to deliver impactful projects that align with the MORE Agenda of the state government.
According to him, the Commission will continue to promote transparency, due process, and stakeholder engagement in the execution of all programmes and projects.
“On behalf of the Board, Management, and Staff of DESOPADEC, I assure His Excellency and the good people of Delta State that we will not relent in our drive to bring sustainable development closer to our communities,” he added.
Ochonogor also appealed to traditional rulers, community leaders, and stakeholders in the mandate areas to sustain their cooperation with the Commission, noting that collective support is essential for the success of ongoing and future interventions.
