The Delta State Economic And Investment Summit is a strategic and significant step towards building robust economic and investment hub that will bring more industries, create jobs, boost economic productivity and expand the state’s revenue generation.
The three-day summit is designed as a strategic investment platform to attract both domestic and foreign capital into the key sectors capable of accelerating economic productivity, job/wealth creation, science & innovations, technological skills and infrastructure development.
The summit is expected to culminate in the signing of more than five strategic Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), reflecting growing investors confidence in Delta State’s economic prospects.
The state is endowed with enormous viable industrial minerals and energy resources such as;
LIGNITE and COAL: Its significant deposits located in areas like Ugboba, with coal supplied to major cement manufacturers and power generation.
OIL and GAS: Delta State has nearly 40% of Nigeria’s natural gas reserves and a leading hub for crude oil production.
Others are SILICA SAND: There’s plentiful deposits utilized heavily for glass production and construction materials.
KAOLIN and CLAY: There are widely available industrial minerals applied in ceramics, pharmaceuticals, paint, and brick manufacturing from kaolin and clays.
LIMESTONE and GYPSUM: There are essential components that support local infrastructure development and cement production.
The program focused on infrastructure-driven industrialization, agriculture and agro-industrial value chains, the Delta Special Economic Zone, affordable energy, the blue economy, mining and solid minerals development, transport and maritime connectivity, as well as international investment partnerships.
Hence, investments in infrastructure have continued to strengthen the state’s competitiveness, revealing that over 2,600 kilometres of roads and not less than 15 bridges and flyover projects have been constructed or rehabilitated in the last three years to improve connectivity between production centres and the market zones.
The Delta Special Economic Zone, is designed to gain long-time plans, supported by proximity to the OB-3 Gas Pipeline, that offers investors access to reliable and relatively affordable energy, making the state an attractive destination for manufacturing and industrial production.
The state’s blue economy potential, is highly deposited, citing its four seaports, two airports and 163-kilometre Atlantic coastline as strategic assets capable of supporting investments in commercial aquaculture, seafood processing, marine transportation, cold-chain logistics and export-oriented fisheries.
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MOREAgenda investment policies, had attracted growing interest from investors through its Public Private Partnerships in China, Brazil and other international markets and sustained engagements aimed at showcasing Delta’s investment opportunities.
