ISSELE-AZAGBA, DELTA STATE — The Ogbe-Ani Quarters in Issele-Azagba, Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State, has announced the commencement of a Phase 1 land recovery exercise aimed at identifying, documenting and regularising lands within designated areas of its ancestral land.
The announcement was contained in a public notice signed on behalf of the elders, youths and stakeholders of the community by the Traditional Head of Ogbe-Ani Quarters, Diokpa Sir (Dr) Peter Ejiwe; Chairman of the Ogbe-Ani Land Recovery Committee, Hon. Richard E. Anonyei; the committee’s Secretary, ESV. Sir Peter I. Kifordu; and Ogbe-Ani Youth President, Comrade Udoka Paul Anonyei.
According to the notice, the affected areas under Phase 1 are Odih Farmland, Uzor Ezesoawi and Afia Uzor, all situated along Uzougom Road.
The community said the exercise has received the unanimous consent and support of its elders, youths and stakeholders, describing it as an initiative undertaken in the overall interest of the community and future generations.
As part of the process, bona fide indigenes of Ogbe-Ani who possess survey plans or other land-related documents concerning properties within the affected areas have been requested to submit copies of the documents to the Land Recovery Committee on or before September 30, 2026.
The notice stated that the physical recovery exercise is scheduled to commence in the first week of October 2026.
The community also called on individuals, families, developers, investors, corporate organisations, institutions and other entities with interests or activities within the affected areas to liaise with the Land Recovery Committee for verification, documentation and regularisation.
It specifically advised persons who acquired land from individuals without the authority, consent or endorsement of the Ogbe-Ani community to come forward and have their interests verified.
The notice warned that failure to comply with the directive could result in complications during the recovery and regularisation process.
The community, however, stressed that the exercise would be conducted in a transparent, peaceful and orderly manner and appealed to all concerned parties to cooperate with the committee.
For enquiries, document submissions and regularisation matters, affected persons and entities were directed to contact designated representatives of the Ogbe-Ani Land Recovery Committee.
