Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has stated that none of his Personal Assistants (PAs) earns less than ₦1 million monthly. He emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability from his political appointees, highlighting the substantial income they receive. This statement underscores the governor’s commitment to openness in governance.
Governor Eno also commended one of his aides, Blessed Essien, for using part of his remuneration to fund a water borehole project in his community. This gesture not only showcases the aides’ commitment to their communities but also demonstrates the governor’s appreciation for such initiatives. As a result of Essien’s actions, the governor promoted him to Special Assistant on Public Works.
The governor’s directive for the Secretary to the State Government to compile and publish a list of all political appointees in a national newspaper further reinforces his commitment to transparency. By doing so, the government aims to ensure accountability and openness in its dealings, setting a positive example for other government officials to follow.
