With Ash Wednesday, the commencement day of Lent all over the Christian world, the Chairman of the Nigeria Majority Leaders’ Forum, the Leader of the Delta State House of Assembly, and member representing Aniocha North Constituency, Hon. Engr. Emeka Nwaobi, Ph.D, has admonished Christians in Nigeria to deepen their faith in GOD during this season, urging them to fast, pray for unity, peace, and the nation’s progress, and endeavour to abstain from earthly things that could dent their relationship with GOD.
Emphasising the significance of the season, Hon. Nwaobi, a devout and practising Christian of the Catholic faith, reminded his brethren that Lent is a 40 days of tedious journey that involves spiritual renewal and total reflection of life through fasting and prayer; a time Christians are required to open the doors of their hearts to understand GOD more deeper, through the imitation of Christ’s sufferings for the salvation of mankind, so that when Good Friday and Easter comes, it will not just be another day at church, but an opportunity to receive overflowing grace GOD has to offer.
The acclaimed performing Leader of the Delta State House of Assembly solemnly implored Christians to seek forgiveness of sins from GOD through genuine repentance, which is the ultimate key to everlasting salvation and pray fervently for the leadership of the country, asking GOD to grant them more wisdom, guide and direct them to the right course of governance that would be consistently beneficial to the people whose sacred mandate placed them in positions of power and authority.
Hon. Engr. Emeka Nwaobi predicted with certainty and renewed hope that with GOD’s intervention, the glory that eluded Nigeria would be restored. At the same time, the prevalent ethnic divisions, hostilities, insecurity and economic hardship that pervade the nation will soon give way to unity, peace, love, safety, and lasting prosperity for all as he sincerely wishes the Christians a happy Lenten season.
