The Member Representing Ukwuani Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Ogbuefi Chukudi Dafe, has called on Christian youths to take an active interest in politics and governance.
Hon. Dafe made the call during an interactive meeting with the youth wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ukwuani Chapter, the youth wing of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), and other Christian youth organisations in Ukwuani.
Addressing the youths, the lawmaker stressed that active participation in politics is essential for Christians to have a voice in decisions affecting the governance and development of the state and the nation.
He urged them not to remain aloof from the political process, but to participate actively—from voter registration and elections to holding elected leaders accountable. According to him, those who desire good governance must also be involved in choosing their representatives at all levels.
“When the righteous rule, the people rejoice. But the righteous cannot rule without the support and active involvement of Christians,” Hon. Dafe stated.
He assured the Christian youth bodies of his continued support and partnership, while urging them to promote political awareness and responsible civic participation among their members.
The meeting ended with an interactive session, during which the youth leaders expressed their commitment to promoting greater political awareness and participation among Christian youths in Ukwuani.
