Partnership to Deliver Free Digital Skills, Mentorship and Business Funding Opportunities to 8 LGAs of Delta Central
The Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Distinguished Senator Ede Dafinone has entered into a strategic partnership with the Delta Social Media Summit 4th Edition holding 27th August 2026 Mariam Babagida Liesure Pack Opp Denise Osadebey University in Asaba to train, mentor, and empower thousands of youths across Delta Central
Senator Dafinone announced the partnership on Tuesday during a courtesy visit by the Summit Organizing Committee led by the Convener, Mr Ossai Ovie Success Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Delta State Governor.
The meeting, held at the Senator’s Abuja office, focused on strategies to equip Delta Central youths with 21st-century digital skills that can translate into jobs, businesses, and sustainable livelihoods.
Speaking during the visit, Senator Dafinone described the partnership as “timely and strategic” in line with his legislative agenda of human capital development for Delta Central.
“The digital economy is the future, and our youths must not be left behind,” the Senator said.
“I am proud to partner with the Delta Social Media Summit to ensure that young people from Ughelli North, Ughelli South, Udu, Uvwie, Ethiope East, Ethiope West, Okpe, and Sapele have access to world-class training in content creation, digital marketing, e-commerce, AI tools, and monetization.”
He added that the partnership will prioritize Urhobo youths while remaining inclusive to all ethnic groups within Delta Central, in line with his mandate to leave no one behind.
The Delta Social Media Summit, now in its 4th year, is the largest gathering of digital creators, entrepreneurs, government officials, and industry leaders in Delta State.
According to the Convener, Mr. Ossai Ovie Success, this year’s edition is themed: *“Digital Economy, Innovation & Responsible Citizenship.”
“The goal is simple: to build capacity, create opportunities, and connect our youths to government and private sector partners,” Ossai stated.
“With Senator Dafinone’s partnership, we will have dedicated training tracks, mentorship sessions, and a Delta Central Pavilion to showcase talents from the 8 LGAs.”
With over 60% of Nigeria’s population under 35, and Delta State having one of the highest youth populations in the South-South, stakeholders say digital empowerment is key to reducing unemployment and restiveness.
The partnership aligns with Senator Dafinone’s broader legislative efforts in skills acquisition, SME support, and youth inclusion in governance.
“This is not just an event,” the Senator noted.
“This is an investment in the future of Delta Central. When you train one youth in digital skills, you are empowering a family and strengthening a community.”
The Organizing Committee expressed appreciation to Senator Dafinone for his leadership and commitment to youth development.
