Kano State has witnessed a historic mass wedding as hundreds of couples were joined together in marriage under a ₦1.5 billion mass wedding programme initiated by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
The initiative is part of the governor’s campaign promises and is aimed at supporting couples who may be unable to afford the financial demands of marriage.
Beyond the wedding ceremony, beneficiaries received various forms of support, including assistance for dowry, business capital and essential household needs, giving the newlyweds a stronger foundation for their new lives together.
The mass wedding has attracted attention as a major social intervention, with families and well-wishers celebrating the couples as they begin a new chapter of their lives.
