The former Member of the House of Representatives, representing Oyi/Ayamelum Federal Constituency, Hon. Barr. Vincent Ofumelu, has felicitated with a foremost industrialist, former Chairman of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), South-East Zone, and pioneer Chairman of the Omambala Union, Dr. Chike Obidigbo, as he clocks 78.
In a statement issued today, August 9, 2026, Hon. Ofumelu showered encomiums on Dr. Obidigbo, describing him as an apostle of economic renaissance, philanthropist extraordinaire, business titan, technocrat and wealth creator. He praised the septuagenarian for his remarkable tenacity, entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to reducing unemployment by creating opportunities and providing means of livelihood for thousands of Nigerians.
He commended the consummate businessman and cerebral marketer for his vision and courage to translate dreams into reality, with far-reaching impact on the economy, particularly in the areas of manufacturing, education, banking and commerce.
Hon. Ofumelu emphasized that it was through a rare combination of dedication, discipline and innovation that Dr. Obidigbo successfully built and managed a conglomerate like Hardis and Dromedas Limited, which manufactures a wide range of domestic, health and household products through the utilisation of local raw materials, creating employment opportunities for thousands of Nigerians, both directly and indirectly.
The former federal lawmaker also acknowledged the large-heartedness and philanthropic contributions of the business mogul, particularly through the establishment of the Osisioma Foundation, which provides support for persons living with disabilities and other underprivileged members of society. He further commended Dr. Obidigbo for providing scholarships and supporting healthcare initiatives for people in need.
Hon. Ofumelu noted that Dr. Obidigbo’s wealth of knowledge and vast experience in entrepreneurship, business and public affairs remain valuable assets to Nigeria and the South-East in particular.
