Delta State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Ehiedu Aniagwu, is upbeat that the forthcoming Delta State Economic and Investment Summit will position the state on global reckoning, attract strategic partnerships, stimulate industrialisation and deepen multilateral development opportunities.
Speaking on Monday during an interactive session with government media aides ahead of the summit, scheduled for August 3rd- 5th 2026, in Asaba, Aniagwu said the event would also provide a unique platform to showcase Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s leadership model, which he noted has delivered visible socio-economic impact across the State.
Aniagwu, who is the chairman of the Summit’s Media and Publicity Sub-Committee, announced an impressive lineup of globally acclaimed speakers and dignitaries, including renowned political economist Professor P.L.O. Lumumba, Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and distinguished energy executive and development expert, Engineer Austin Avuru, who will chair the summit.
He disclosed that Vice President Kashim Shettima is expected to attend alongside the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole; Minister of Finance and coordinating Minister of the Economy, Professor Taiwo Oyedele; Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Barrister Festus Keyamo (SAN) as well as other leading figures from government, business and the international development community.
Aniagwu described the Economic and Investment Summit as an “epoch-making” event and said it would spotlight Delta State’s vast economic potential and foreground “its capacity for sustainable development under a highly focused leader, Governor Oborevwori”
He maintained that the Oborevwori administration has recorded outstanding achievements across the state through the delivery of critical infrastructure, rural development projects and passionate investments in human capital.
According to the commissioner, Governor Oborevwori had proved a phenomenal and competent reformer since assuming office, successfully implementing the M.O.R.E. Agenda development thrust while maximizing the state’s abundant natural and human resources to push inclusive growth.
Aniagwu emphasized that these achievements, together with the state’s rich economic endowments, deserve greater global visibility and would be prominently projected during the summit to attract more investors and development partners.
The theme of the Delta State Economic and Investment Summit is: “Harnessing Our Strengths, Unlocking Our Potentials.”
