The immediate past Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Ndudi Elumelu, on Thursday, March 19, 2026, continued his strategic consultations across the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency with a high-level engagement in Oshimili North Local Government Area, as part of his renewed bid to return to the Green Chamber in 2027.
Elumelu, who was accompanied by key members of his Campaign Council, including Chairman, Chief Edwin Uzor, and Director General, Dr. Darlington Ijeh, met with prominent leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Oshimili North Local Government Liaison Office in Ibusa.
The consultative meeting drew influential stakeholders within the party, among them the Executive Chairman of Oshimili North, Hon.Innocent Esewezia, former Chief Whip of the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Princess Pat Ajudua, Member representing the State Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Hon.Frank Esenwa, Ogbueshi Nnabuefi Austin Ojogbua, Chief Nelson Agbamuche, Prof. Andy Egwunyenga and Dr. Ben Iwezu, among others.
Addressing the gathering, Elumelu explained that recent provisions of the Electoral Law, 2026 (as amended), alongside the APC’s guidelines on primary elections, necessitated broad consultations with party leaders, executives, and members at all levels. He emphasized the critical roles of stakeholders under the direct primary and consensus options as stipulated by law.
Reflecting on his previous tenure in the House of Representatives, Elumelu outlined his achievements and contributions to the development of the constituency. He expressed concern that prior to 2023, the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency was widely regarded as one of the best represented in terms of constituency projects, employment opportunities, legislative visibility, and overall development.
According to him, that standard has since declined, a development he described as regrettable. He, however, assured stakeholders of his determination to restore the constituency’s lost prominence, stating that his renewed ambition is driven by a commitment to “right the wrongs” and reposition the constituency for sustainable growth.
In a significant political development, Hon. Princess Pat Ajudua, who had previously contested against Elumelu, publicly declared her support for his candidacy. In an emotional address, she announced her decision to step down her ambition for Elumelu in the interest of unity and collective progress.
She noted that after consultations with leaders across Oshimili North, she was convinced that supporting Elumelu would best serve the overall interest of the constituency, particularly in restoring its visibility and attracting development.
Also speaking, Hon. Innocent Esewezia, on behalf of APC leaders in Oshimili North, formally welcomed Elumelu and his delegation, reaffirming the collective endorsement of his candidacy ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Esewezia urged constituents to rise above sentiments and focus on competence, capacity, and proven performance. He described Elumelu as a seasoned legislator with extensive reach and influence, noting that his experience as a ranking member of the House and former Minority Leader places him in a strong position to attract meaningful development to the constituency.
He further highlighted the strategic advantages of Elumelu’s network and national connections, stressing that his return to the National Assembly would enhance the constituency’s access to federal opportunities and decision-making platforms.
Similarly, Hon. Frank Esenwa, speaking on behalf of other leaders, reiterated the need for unity and pragmatism, urging the people of Oshimili North to rally behind Elumelu. He maintained that Elumelu’s political network and legislative experience would significantly boost the constituency’s standing and development prospects.
The meeting concluded with a unanimous expression of support from party leaders, signaling growing momentum behind Elumelu’s return bid as consultations continue across the federal constituency.
