The Delta State Commissioner for Energy, Engr. Michael Anoka FNSE, has described the business grant initiative sponsored by the Managing Director of Tantita Security Services, High Chief (Engr) Kestin Pondi FNSE, as mother of empowerment programmes.
Speaking in Uvwie on Monday during the event, Anoka praised the initiative for its far-reaching impact on youth entrepreneurship and economic development in the Niger Delta region.
The event witnessed the disbursement of business support grants amounting to ₦10 million each to 80 shortlisted young entrepreneurs to enable them expand and strengthen their businesses.
Anoka commended Chief Pondi for demonstrating what he described as exceptional commitment to human capital development and youth empowerment, noting that the initiative represents a bold step towards creating sustainable economic opportunities for young people in Delta State.
According to the Commissioner, empowerment programmes of this magnitude are capable of transforming lives, stimulating enterprises, and eradicating poverty.
He noted that Chief Pondi’s gesture has set a new standard for private sector contributions to human capital development in the state, stressing that such initiatives complement the efforts of government in promoting growth , and social stability.
“Chief Kestin Pondi has shown uncommon leadership by investing in the future of young entrepreneurs”.
“This programme is not just an empowerment initiative; it is the mother of empowerment programmes because of its scale, impact, and the opportunities it provides for beneficiaries to grow their businesses and become employers of labour,” Anoka said.
The Commissioner further urged the beneficiaries of the grants to utilize the funds responsibly and channel them towards the growth and expansion of their enterprises.
