The Delta State Government has commenced the construction of 110 housing units in Asaba as part of efforts to address accommodation challenges and improve living standards for public servants in the state.
The Commissioner for Housing, Hon. Godknows Angele, disclosed this while speaking with newsmen on the giant strides of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori in the housing sector.
Hon. Angele said the housing project, designed for permanent secretaries and other senior public servants, was conceived to complement the administration’s commitment to workers’ welfare and enhance productivity in the civil service.
He explained that the estate, located along the Ibusa Road axis behind the Asaba International Airport, will consist of sixty units of five-bedroom terrace duplexes and fifty units of three-bedroom apartments for workers.
According to the Commissioner, the first phase of the project will deliver 110 housing units, assuring that construction will be completed within the stipulated timeframe.
Hon. Angele called on contractors handling various housing projects under the ministry to strictly adhere to agreed specifications and timelines or be prepared to face appropriate sanctions.
He emphasized that quality delivery remains a top priority of the ministry, noting that the present administration is determined to ensure value for money in all government projects.
The Commissioner urged Deltans to continue supporting Governor Oborevwori’s administration, stressing that the housing initiative is part of broader efforts to drive development and renew hope across all sectors of the state’s economy.
