Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has approved a new minimum wage for state workers, setting it at N70,000. This decision aims to enhance the welfare of workers and pensioners across the state. The new minimum wage is expected to bring relief to the least graded workers, particularly those on grade level 01.
In addition to the minimum wage, the governor also announced a 10% pay increase for employees on consolidated salary structures. This move is part of the government’s efforts to improve the living conditions of its workforce. Furthermore, the governor has introduced free healthcare for pensioners through the State Healthcare Services Scheme and commenced gratuity payments to retirees.
A total of 2,962 retirees at the Local Government level and 2,742 at the State level will benefit from the gratuity payments, with the outstanding balance to be paid in the next one or two batches. This development is expected to boost the morale of workers and pensioners in the state, and it’s a welcome move for the residents of Imo State.
