Former Imo State Governor, Senator Rochas Okorocha, has dragged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Governor Hope Uzodinma to court over the 2027 Imo West Senatorial ticket.
Okorocha is challenging the emergence and publication of Governor Uzodinma as the APC’s candidate for the Imo West Senatorial District election.
In the suit filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja, Okorocha is asking the court to nullify Uzodinma’s candidacy and recognise him as the authentic APC candidate, insisting that he won the party’s senatorial primary.
The former governor is also raising constitutional issues concerning Uzodinma’s eligibility to contest for the Senate while still serving as governor of Imo State.
The legal battle could further intensify the political contest ahead of the 2027 elections, as both camps seek to establish control of the APC ticket in Imo West.
More details as the case unfolds.
