Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s aide, Mr. Lucky Dikadi, has reacted strongly to a letter reportedly written by the Delta State Deputy Chairman of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Ossai Sylvanus Annantram, to the traditional ruler of Inyi Community in Ndokwa East Local Government Area, urging him to caution Dikadi over his recent political statements.
The letter, dated August 20, 2026, expressed concern over what the NDC described as Dikadi’s controversial public comments about political leaders in Delta State. It appealed to the Okpala-Uku of Inyi Community to counsel him to moderate his political engagements and promote peace and unity.
However, Dikadi has described the development as an attempt to tarnish his image and silence his voice. According to him, well-meaning Deltans who are concerned about the progress of the state drew his attention to the letter and a video allegedly produced by Dr. Annantram and Chief Odebala.
Reacting to the development, Dikadi asked whether the alleged attempt to damage his reputation would stop him from expressing his political views.
“Do you really think this joint effort to tarnish my image will stop me from speaking the truth, that the NDC is a failed political party and Peter Obi, your leader, is nothing more than a motivational speaker?”
Dikadi maintained that political disagreement is part of democratic engagement and argued that those who disagree with his views should respond to the issues he raises rather than attempt to use his traditional institution to pressure him into silence.
The NDC letter also drew attention to the dilapidated road leading to Inyi Community, as well as concerns about school infrastructure, healthcare facilities and other developmental challenges in the area.
While Dikadi’s critics have questioned why he has not been able to influence government to address the condition of the road, his supporters argue that the responsibility for major public infrastructure rests with the appropriate government authorities and should not be turned into a personal political weapon against him.
They also contend that raising the condition of the Inyi road in a letter focused primarily on Dikadi’s political statements creates a separate political argument that should be addressed on its own merits.
Dikadi’s supporters further insist that being an aide to the Governor does not mean he should be prevented from expressing his political opinions or defending the administration and its political interests. They maintain that political parties should engage their opponents through facts, policies and competing ideas rather than appeals to traditional institutions.
The controversy has consequently generated fresh discussion about political tolerance in Delta State, particularly as political activities ahead of the 2027 elections continue to intensify.
For Dikadi, however, the message remains clear: criticism from political opponents will not stop him from participating actively in public discourse or expressing his views about political parties and their leaders.
“This joint effort to tarnish my image will not stop me from speaking the truth,” Dikadi maintained.
