Suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduagha is threatening to take the National Assembly Clerk, Kamorudeen Ogunlana, to court if she’s prevented from resuming plenary today. This comes after she was suspended from the Senate in March for six months, with her salary, security details, and access to the National Assembly revoked. Natasha has been vocal about her intention to return to the Senate, despite the suspension.
In a letter dated September 10, Natasha warned that she’ll face legal action if she’s blocked from resuming. The Senator has already filed a contempt suit against Senate President Godswill Akpabio and others over her suspension. The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has also threatened to mobilize against the National Assembly if Natasha is blocked from resuming.
The Senate has maintained that Natasha should stay away from the National Assembly, citing the lack of an enforceable court order mandating her reinstatement. However, Natasha remains determined to return to her seat.
