Campaigns in Anambra took a sensational turn on Saturday as the governor’s wife, Dr. Nonye Soludo, went head-to-head with Senator Uche Ekwunife of the APC.
Fuming over what she called “fabricated allegations” against her family, Mrs. Soludo issued a 72-hour ultimatum, threatening legal action unless Ekwunife retracted her comments. In a fiery twist, she challenged the senator to swear an oath of chastity in a cathedral and even proposed DNA tests for both families in London, promising to foot the bill.
Ekwunife, unshaken, brushed aside the threats. “She owes her husband explanations, not me,” the former lawmaker quipped, insisting her focus remained on “rescuing Anambra from misrule.”
With just weeks to the November election, the clash has added fresh drama to an already bitter contest where personal jabs now rival policy debates.
