Abuja, Nigeria – The Honourable Nnamdi Ezechi, who represents the Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency of Delta State at the National Assembly, participated in a pivotal interactive session held today, April 8, 2025, by the House of Representatives Committee on Climate Change. The meeting featured an engagement with the Honourable Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, SAN, along with top officials and representatives of various departments within the Ministry of Aviation.
The dialogue aimed to explore the intersection between Nigeria’s aviation sector and its climate change agenda, with particular emphasis on sustainable policies, regulatory compliance, and environmental responsibility.
During the session, Rep. Ezechi expressed appreciation for the efforts and contributions of Hon. Minister Keyamo and his team in managing the aviation sector amidst evolving global standards and challenges. He lauded the Ministry’s commitment to transparency and progressiveness, especially in navigating the critical demands of climate-conscious aviation reforms.
However, the lawmaker also used the opportunity to spotlight key areas needing urgent attention. He strongly advocated for the implementation of robust regulatory frameworks that would ensure airline operators prioritize passenger satisfaction. Ezechi emphasized the need for airlines to be held accountable in fulfilling their obligations to consumers, particularly regarding service delivery, safety standards, and customer care.
“The aviation sector plays a crucial role not just in our economy but also in how Nigeria is perceived globally,” Ezechi stated. “It is imperative that policies are put in place to compel operators to uphold the highest standards of customer service and operational excellence. This is not just about business—it’s about national integrity and climate responsibility.”
The interactive meeting is one of several initiatives by the Committee on Climate Change to align various sectors of Nigeria’s economy, including aviation, with the global climate agenda. It also reflects a growing push within the National Assembly to enforce accountability and performance across all ministries.
Rep. Ezechi reaffirmed his commitment to representing the interests of his constituents while contributing to national development through active legislative participation.
