The Federal Government is set to launch the Renewed Hope Social Housing Programme, a major component of President Tinubu’s broader Renewed Hope Housing agenda, aimed at addressing the shelter needs of low-income earners, the unemployed, vulnerable groups, and IDPs nationwide.

Programme Snapshot:

• Scope: 100 housing units in each of the 774 LGAs, totaling 77,400 units, to be completed within one year.

• Affordability: 80% of the homes will be sold at one-third of the buyer’s monthly income (e.g., N30,000 earners pay N10,000).

• Social Inclusion: 20% of units will be allocated free to the most vulnerable, including widows and orphans.

• Facilities: Estates will include schools, clinics, police outposts, recreation areas, and shopping malls.

• Funding: To be financed through the Renewed Hope Infrastructure Development Fund (RHIDF).

• Structure: This forms the third leg of the President’s housing initiative, alongside Renewed Hope Housing Estates and Renewed Hope Cities being developed in FCT, Rivers, Lagos, Enugu, Nasarawa, Kano, and Maiduguri.

The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, affirmed that the programme reflects President Tinubu’s vision of a Nigeria where every citizen, regardless of status, can live with dignity in a decent home.
