Delta State Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, has called on youths to remain law abiding and supportive of the Oborevwori administration, with the assurance of a brighter future.
Sir Onyeme made the call in Kwale, Ndokwa West Local Government Area, at the inauguration of the new executive of the apex youth body of the Ndokwa nation, Ikolobie Ndokwa.
The Deputy Governor, who was represented by an Executive Assistant to the Governor on Political Matters, Chief Godwin Mgbagbego, said the state government had taken steps to help youths in the state to realize their potentials through various programmes coordinated by Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
While urging the youths to take advantage of the existing opportunities, while expecting more, Sir Onyeme commended members of Ikolobie Ndokwa for mobilizing support for Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and other candidates in the 2023 general election and pleaded with them to remain united and and peaceful in their respective local government areas.
The Deputy Governor charged the incoming executive to consolidate the achievements already recorded by the youth body, emphasizing that they must be guided by the core values of accountability, selflessness, and the steadfast pursuit of the common good.
He also told the body to help to sensitive other groups to disregard rumours that the collapsing of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the State to the All Progressives Congress APC, was to favour the immediate past Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, but rather a collective decision of all stakeholders to align with the Tinubu administration to attract federal presence, with a view to complimenting the developmental efforts of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
The member representing the Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon Nnamdi Ezechi, who is also the Chairman, Board of Trustee of Ikolobie Ndokwa, charged the new executive to be peace-loving ambassadors of the Ndokwa nation and strive to beat the record of achievements of the past executive led by Chief Anslem Nzete.
Hon Ezechi urged members of the body to continue to support the government of Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori and all the political leaders in Ndokwa nation, pointing out that in just two years in the National Assembly, he had demonstrated genuine commitment to attracting more development to Ndokwa land.
The Lawmaker promised that the issue of lack of power supply in Ndokwa nation would soon be a thing of the past, as the relevant authorities were being engaged to find a lasting solution to the problem.
He appreciated the State Governor, Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori for his massive infrastructural development across the three senatorial districts, while also thanking former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, who had been supportive of Ikolobie Ndokwa since its inception.
Hon Ezechi, on the occasion, moved a motion for a vote of confidence on the State Governor, Rt Honourable Sheriff Oborevwori, His Deputy Sir Monday Onyeme,Immediate Past Governor Sen Dr Ifeanyi Okowa,Sir Fidelis Tilije,Chief Festus Ochonogor which was seconded by Comr Fidelis Aguocha and unanimously adopted by all present.
In their goodwill messages, Finance, Chief Fidelis Tilije; Hon Charles Emetulu,Barr Possible Ajede,Dr. Kingsley Ashibogwu, Dr. Charles Olisa, Surveyor Azuka Enebeli, Rear Admiral Mike Ojinika Onah,Chief Jeffrey Azaka,
among others, emphasized the importance of synergy between the youth body and the state government, to enhance inclusiveness, development, and equity.
Earlier, the outgone President of Ikolobie Ndokwa, Chief Anslem Nzete, said he was excited to have led to youth body to and enviable height, highlighting some of the achievements of the body under his watch to include a role in the emergence of Sir Monday Onyeme as Deputy Governor, the appointment of youths into various position, peaceful coexistence in Ndokwa nation among others.
In his acceptance speech, the new President of the umbrella youth body, Comrade Fidelis Azaka, promised to build on the legacy of his predecessor, assuring that the group would align with the State Governor and political leaders in Ndokwa nation to ensure peace in the land.
The event featured an interactive session, a talk on “The role of the Youths in Nation Building” delivered by Dr. Emmanuel Ndumdi Orji, as well as the swearing-in of the new 24 – member executive.
