Delta State Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has commended Sir Augustine Oghoro for his tireless dedication and unblemished service to the State.
Governor Oborevwori made the commendation Sunday at the retirement thanksgiving service in honour of Sir, Augustine Oghoro held at St. Emmanuel Catholic Church, Asaba.
The governor who was represented by his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, while appreciating the remarkable service career of Sir Oghoro said, retirement is not the end of the road, but, simply the beginning of a new journey in the phase of life.
Governor Oborevwori in his commendation remark said; “It is with great honour and a deep sense of appreciation that I stand before you today, to celebrate a remarkable career and to bid a sound farewell to an outstanding civil servant, Sir Augustine Oghoro who serve our dear State and dedicated himself unblemishly while in office.”
“On behalf of the government and people of Delta State, I extend my heart felt gratitude to you for your exceptional service, your tireless dedication and your unwavering commitment to the development and progress of our dear State, we say thank you.
“Over the years, you have left an indelible mark on the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education as well as the ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources. Your leadership tend to steer crucial reforms and programmes that have positively impacted on the lives of thousands of Deltans.
“Your innovations in the two ministries has foster quality education for our children and improve the food security in our dear State.
“In a time when public service demand courage, resilience and selflessness, you exemplified all these values and more. You mentored others, promoted unity, and ensure that the civil service remain a bicon of professionalism and transparency.”
“Retirement is not the end of the road, it is simply the beginning of a new journey. As you transition into this well deserved phase, of friends and personal fulfillment, I encourage you to continue sharing your wealth of experience with us in any capacity you deem fit and find fulfilled.
“The Delta State government is proud of you, we celebrate you today, not just for what you have done, but what you are, a symbol of selfless service, a trailblazer, and a role model to many.” Gov. Oborevwori stated.
Earlier, in a sermon, the Parish Priest, Rev’d Fr. Israel Debia enjoined those in leadership position to abstain from the act of exhibiting socials injustice and economic oppression towards the people they lead.
Fr. Debia called on leaders and followers, to repent and change their ways, from all form of economic oppression and social injustice, and draw nearer to God by using His words as their guide.
He enjoined all to always appreciate the meekness of God’s faithfulness, love and mercies on us, adding that, as humans, we continue to enjoy the endless mercies of God despite our sinful disposition.
According to him; “God’s mercies, love and faithfulness is depicted in all Christians today inspite of the numerous our trials and temptations and our sinful dispositions”.
Fr. Debia who appreciated Sir Oghoro for his love and devotion to the service of God said;
“Today we have come to celebrate the mercy of God in the life of Sir Oghoro, on a successful retirement from the civil service. I know Sir Oghoro to be a man of protocol, and due diligence in the line of duty.
“We celebrate sir Oghoro thoughtfulness, dedication to duty, transparency and accountability, who has been the head of many committee in the church.
“We celebrate a man with Christ like affection, a man with Christ like love and devotion, a man with many purpose of life. This is the beginning of a new chapter in his life.
“Because we are the favourite of God, we shall continue to enjoy the goodness, favour and blessings of God and we shall not be put to shame.” Fr. Debia stated.
