The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the 2024 Edo governorship election, Asue Ighodalo, has vowed to challenge the tribunal’s verdict that upheld Monday Okpebholo’s victory.
In a statement issued shortly after the ruling, Ighodalo described the decision as a “travesty of justice” and confirmed he has instructed his legal team to proceed to the Court of Appeal.
The three-member tribunal, led by Justice Wilfred Kpochi, dismissed Ighodalo’s petition over lack of merit and insufficient evidence of non-compliance with the Electoral Act.
Urging supporters to remain calm, Ighodalo reaffirmed his commitment to democracy and justice, stating that the struggle for the people’s mandate continues.
