The Sheriff Junior Support Team, SJST, paid a courtesy visit to the Rt. Hon. (Barr.) Basil O. Ganagana, former Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, at his residence in Asaba on Thursday, July 30, 2026.
The delegation was led by the National Leadership of SJST and was in company of Senatorial and LGA Coordinators of the group. Prominent among them were Dr. Perekeme Peresuode, MMAN, Coordinator, Delta South Senatorial District, SJST and Senior Lecturer, College of Education, Warri; and Comr. Jude Ugboh, Coordinator, Delta North Senatorial District, SJST and Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Political Matters.
The purpose of the visit was to formally identify with Rt. Hon. Ganagana and to mobilize the SJST grassroots structure in support of his aspiration as the APC candidate for Patani/Bomadi Federal Constituency in the 2027 House of Representatives election.
Addressing the host, the Convener and National Coordinator of SJST, Comrade Matthew Obukohwo Obriki, who also serves as Special Assistant on Media to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, described Rt. Hon. Ganagana as a tested leader, legal luminary, and grassroots politician whose wealth of experience as former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly remains vital to the growth of democracy in Delta State and in Patani/Bomadi Federal Constituency.
“Rt. Hon. (Barr.) Basil Ganagana has consistently demonstrated capacity, loyalty, and commitment to the people. His track record as former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly and in public service speaks volumes. As SJST, we are here to identify with him and to assure him of our grassroots support across the 25 LGAs and 270 Wards of Delta State, with immediate focus on Patani and Bomadi Federal Constituency,” Comr. Obriki stated.
Also speaking, Dr. Perekeme Peresuode, MMAN, said SJST Delta South is fully mobilized to take the message of the MORE Agenda and Renewed Hope Agenda to every ward in Patani and Bomadi.
Comr. Jude Ugboh added that SJST Delta North will work in synergy with other zones to ensure massive support for the APC candidate in Patani/Bomadi Federal Constituency.
Comr. Obriki noted that SJST, as a grassroots advocacy and enlightenment platform, is fully committed to the MORE Agenda of the Delta State Government and the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Federal Government.
He disclosed that SJST has a strong structure cutting across Polling Units, Wards, LGAs, Federal Constituencies, Senatorial Districts, and State/National levels. This structure, he said, positions SJST to effectively mobilize women, youths, artisans, students, and Persons Living with Disabilities for inclusive governance in Patani and Bomadi Federal Constituency and across Delta State.
The National Coordinator further assured that SJST will intensify voter education, town hall engagements, and community outreaches in Patani and Bomadi LGAs to deepen public understanding of government policies and to consolidate support for the APC, and for the administrations of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
In his response, Rt. Hon. (Barr.) Basil O. Ganagana, former Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly and APC candidate for Patani/Bomadi Federal Constituency, 2027, commended SJST for its organizational strength and dedication to grassroots mobilization. He described the team as a credible platform for enlightenment and political awareness in Delta State.
He assured the delegation of his commitment to provide effective representation for Patani and Bomadi Federal Constituency. He pledged to work for the unity, peace, and progress of the two LGAs and Delta State at large. He also urged SJST members to remain disciplined, focused, and committed to the ideals of good governance.
The visit ended with prayers and a group photograph with the leadership of SJST.
