Abia State Governor Alex Otti has sacked six civil servants in the Ministry of Justice over allegations of salary padding. The dismissed officers include Mr. Dickson Uche Eze, Principal Accountant; Mrs. Esther Emeruwa, Senior Accountant; Mrs. Ijeoma Jonathan, Chief Executive Officer (Accounts); Mrs. Treasure Isinguzo, Assistant Chief Executive Officer (Accounts); Mrs. Chioma Victoria Erondu, Principal Executive Officer (Accounts); and Mrs. Hannah Ezinne Eze, Senior Executive Officer (General Duties).
The Abia State Civil Service Commission found that these officers manipulated payroll systems, resulting in the unlawful receipt of excess salaries over a sustained period. Following the investigation, Governor Otti directed that the activities of the Salary Committee be subjected to a separate probe to ensure full accountability. The dismissed officers will be handed over to law enforcement agencies for prosecution.
